Northern Virginia Holiday Jubilee

This trip highlights the wistfulness and whimsy of the holidays in Northern Virginia, and will create delightful memories for all who attend!  A fun-filled holiday excursion to Northern Virginia with themed activities traveling through Price William, Loudoun and Fairfax Counties with a stop in charming Occoquan and Leesburg as well.  With private wine and distillery tastings, guided tours of festively decorated historic homes, a murder mystery dinner, a visit to the twinkling Bull Run Festival of Lights and shopping at incredible vintage shops and small boutiques that will offer the most quaint gifts and treasures.  This is a journey you will not want to miss.

Day One

Arrive in Occoquan, where you'll be greeted by the mayor Earnie Porta! Enjoy lunch and shopping on your own before taking a guided tour of the Brentsville Courthouse Historic Centre. The Historic Centre was once the center for conducting business in Prince William County. Brentsville served as the center of community life for over 70 years in the 1800s. During your visit, you will be led through the holiday traditions of multiple time periods from the mid-19th to early 20th centuries as you are guided on a tour of the numerous buildings on-site. Discover how a typical farming family would have celebrated the holiday season by making historical cinnamon ornaments to take home with you. Late afternoon, enjoy a stop at MurLarkey Distilled Spirits where you can sample a variety of spirits and tour the certified craft distillery. MurLarkey handcrafts premium award-winning spirits, distilled to perfection in traditional, small-batch, artisan fashion. All raw grains and corn are sourced from local Virginia farms. The evenings dinner will be included at City Grille, a local favorite with hearty portions in a casual welcoming atmosphere. Before checking in to the Hampton Inn Leesburg, you'll be driving through two and a half miles of festive light displays at the Bull Run Fesitval of Lights, and make a quick stop at the Holiday Village to pick up some tasty treats. You can even get your picture made with Santa and warm up by the fire pit.

Day Two

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before heading to George C. Marshall's Dodona Manor. Take a step back in time with a guided tour of the historic manor and grounds decorated for the holiday season. Dodona Manor was home to General George C. Marshall, the creator of the Marshall Plan for post-World War II Eurpoean recovery. After the tour, enjoy lunch and shopping on own in downtown Leesburg. Leesburg has quaint boutique stores such as Brick & Mortar, Very Virginia, and Muz & Rose that are great for Holiday Shopping, There are a ton of dining suggestions including Wine Kitchen, King Street Oyster Bar, Tuscarora Mill, and Fire Works Wood Fired Pizza in the Market Station precinct on Harrison Street. Passengers will meet after lunch to travel to the Casanel Vineyards and Winery to enjoy a light tasting of three different wines along with a tour of the production facility and vineyards. This family-owned winery offers incredible views of the vineyard, a pond for reflection, and a rustic tasting room. They even have a holiday mulled wine for a bit of spice! The evening will conclude with a Stage Coach Murder Mystery Dinner at Oatlands Historic Home. Passengers will dine and unwind while taking part in this fun, interactive dinner experience. Whodunit!? The only way to find out is to unravel the clues, play into your role, and enjoy! After a fun-filled day you'll retreat back to Leesburg for the evening.

Day Three

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and then board for a tour of Morven Park. Spend the morning exploring the Davis Mansion, Museum of Hounds & Hunting, and the Windmill Carriage Museum on the grounds of Morven Park. A guide will provide a tour of the historic Davis Mansion, followed by self guided tours of the museums. Morven Park is also home to scenic formal gardens, old oak trees, and miles of beautiful nature trails. Mid-morning, you'll visit the Conche, where you'll decorate your own fresh baked gingerbread house! Using icing and candies to create your own masterpiece. The greatest part is, it's all edible and will be packaged for you to take home! The Conche's owner, Santosh Tiptur, is a world-renowned pastry chef who has had numerous appearances on the Food Network. Executive Pastry Chef, Kathleen Faliskie, competed on Food Network's 2022 Spring Baking Championship. Lunch will be on your own in the Village of Leesburg which is home to more than 75 boutiques, restaurants and entertainment experiences including Chefscape, Travinia Italian, and Vino Bistro. After lunch, shop for holiday treasures and treats at the famous antique emporiums that are bursting with eclectic treasures. Visit the Old Lucketts Store, a tumbledown multi-story curiosity shop housed in a circa 1879 building that was formerly a post office and general store. Or discover vintage home decor at Rut & Feathers and European-style treasures and accessories at Beekeeper's Cottage. Pack your treasures and return to Pennsylvania with warm holiday memories of your holiday tour!
