Austrian Christmas - Trapp Family Lodge

Day One

"Gemutlichkeit" (Welcome) to The Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe, Vermont. This unique mountain resort features Austrian-inspired architecture and European-style accommodations. Enjoy stunning mountain views, old world comforts and impeccable service. Three-course dinner is included this evening in the Main Dining Room.

Day Two

Country Breakfast Buffet is included this morning at the lodge. Your local guide will meet you at your lodge for a day of touring.

Your first stop is the Morse Maple Sugar Farm. Learn how maple syrup is made as you tour the sugar house. View the multimedia displays in a real woodshed theatre. Stroll along a nature trail shop in the country store. Complete your tour in the Vermont Farm Life Museum complete with whimsical, carved folk like characters.

Travel to Montpelier and tour the State Capitol - the smallest in the United States! Enjoy lunch on your own at the State Capitol Cafe.

Your last stop of the day is The Annex. Browse the fantastic selection of Cabot cheese products, sample their award-winning cheeses, and delight in many other Vermont specialty foods. Visit our neighbors in the Annex and pick up some delicious Lake Champlain Chocolates, enjoy the beautiful Danforth Pewter store.
Enjoy Afternoon Tea before or after your sleigh ride. Three-Course Dinner is included this evening in the Main Dining Room.

Day Three

Country Breakfast Buffet is included this morning at the lodge. Trapp History Talk - The talk begins with an overview of the von Trapp family history (actual vs movie version) discussion of the property's history and the family's early years in America. View a documentary film (The Real Maria) of Maria von Trapp's memories during her final visit to her former home in Salzburg, Austria. Shop in their Austrian Gift Shop and have your souvenir signed by one of the Trapp Family members, to take home.

Enjoy free time in Stowe Village for lunch on your own. Browse the shops of this charming village with its "most photographed" church steeple.

Visit Cold Hollow Cider for a self-guided tour. This working cider mill offers an engaging rural experience that is unrushed. Learn how apples, bees, maple trees and Vermont all get along. A cider donut and a hot cider are included!

Return to the lodge for Afternoon Tea. Included Dinner Buffet at the "Bierhall" overlooking the brewery where they make varieties of Trapp Family craft beers!

Day Four

Country Breakfast Buffet is included this morning at the lodge. Depart for home, taking with you many fond memories of your heartwarming Holiday stay at the Trapp Family Lodge.
