A morning departure from Douglassville, PA has you traveling towards Washington, DC to celebrate the Nation's 250th Birthday. Upon arrival you will spend time at the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History where you can tour the museum at your own pace. The Museum preserves and displays the heritage of the United States in the areas of social, political, cultural, scientific, and military history. Among the items on display is the orignial Star-Spangled Banner. After your visit, enjoy an included Dinner at a popular restaurant in the area. After dinner, check into your hotel in the Washington, DC Metro area for a two-night stay.

After an included Breakfast at the hotel, you will depart for a visit and self-guided audio tour of Mount Vernon, George Washington's historic home and former plantation which overlooks the Potomac River. Your visit also includes the outbuildings, gardens, Washington's tomb, the slave memorial, and a working farm. Afterwards, enjoy lunch on your own in the area. This afternoon you will have a guided tour of Washington, DC to include several of the monuments and memorials. An included Dinner will be at a popular restaurant in Washington. Your day will end with a driving rour of the illuminated monuments which may includee the Air Force Memorail, the Pentagon, the Jefferson Memorial, the Marine Corps Memorial (Iwo Jima Statue), the Capitol, the White House, the National World War II Memorial, and the Washington Monument.

Enjoy Breakfast, then check out and depart for Charlottesville, VA to visit Monticello, Thomas Jefferson's primary plantation. Jefferson began designing Monticello after inheriting land from his father at age 26. Intially, the plantation cultivated tobacco and mixed crops, and later shifted to wheat. Besides the main house and plantation, Monticello also features ornamental landscape, a farm, a small mountain, and a large and diverse community. It encapsulated the interests, talents, ideals, ambitions, and realities of creative and complex Thomas Jefferson. After your visit, head to Philadelphia - the City of Brotherly Love where two nights lodging have been arranged for you. Dinner is included this evening.

Enjoy an included Breakfast at your hotel, then depart for a visit to the Museum of the American Revolution where immersive exhibitions and priceless artifacts trace the evolution of the colonies from the earliest days of unrest through a legendary war and the improbable victory that led to a new nation. Included are General Washington's Headquarters Tent, a two-story replica of the Liberty Tree, a replica of an 18th-century privateer ship and much more. A special exhibit, The Declaration's Journey, will celebrate the Declaration of Independence's 250-year legacy and global influence on independence movements through rare artifacts and stories. Enjoy lunch on your own in the area, then in the afternoon you will meet your local guide for a historic tour of Philadelphia which will includee the Liberty Bell Center and Independence Hall. Founded and laid out by William Penn, the city was the second largest, but most prominent of the early English colonies. Once again, an included delicious Dinner has been arranged for you this evening.

Following breakfast, check out and travel to the Valley Forge National Historical Park for a tour of the Revolutionary War encapment and George Washington's Headquarters from 1777 to 1778. Trails connect the key monuments and historic structures, including the early 20th-century National Memorial Arch and the Muhlenberg Brigade's recreated log-cabin barracks. After your tour, continue home with lasting memories of our Nations 250th celebration.
